The GentleYag laser for spider veins, broken capillaries and telangiectasias on the face

The GentleYag System, a revolutionary long-pulse (1064 nm) high-energy laser, selectivity helps to protect the skin while effectively treating the unwanted veins.

It emits a gentle beam of light that harmlessly passes through the skin where it is absorbed by the target, hemoglobin in the blood vessels. The laser energy is transformed into heat, leaving the surrounding skin unaffected.

Cool and Comfortable

The skin is further protected during treatment by a Dynamic Cooling Device™ where cryogen is sprayed onto the skin cooling the upper layers and providing patients with increased comfort.

Safe for the face

When used on the face, the GentleYag laser is especially good for isolated blood vessels, particularly those stubborn ones on the side of the nose. It is not uncommon for the physicians of Reflections to use the GentleYag laser in combination with the Vbeam or Intense Pulsed Light on the face during the same treatment session for additive effects.

The GentleYag laser can be used in patients with all skin types. Treatments are well tolerated and generally no downtime is required.

Does it hurt?

Due to the burst of cooling cryogen spray that precedes the pulse of the laser, the treatment is comfortable. For those who feel any discomfort, topical anesthetic can be utilized.

How many treatments will I need?

A treatment regimen usually consists of three to four monthly treatments. The exact protocol will be determined after a careful evaluation of your skin. The treatment takes approximately twenty to thirty minutes to perform.

What can I expect after treatment and are there any side effects?

The skin may be mildly swollen and have a pink color for a few hours after treatment. Makeup can be applied immediately. As with any laser treatment, sun tanning should be avoided before and after the treatment. No downtime is expected after the treatment.
Side effects are rare, but include dark spots and light spots, which usually resolve.

Can the GentleYag treatment be performed in combination with other procedures?

Yes. Treatments such as the Vbeam laser which is used to treat redness on the face, IPL which treats sun spots on the skin, microdermabrasion and Erbium Laser Peel are often performed in combination with the GentleYag
