Saphire 3 Photo abrasion treatment
Cutting edge alternative to microdermabrasion
Saphire Photo Abrasion is the ultimate combination in non invasive skin therapies that involve unique wet and dry exfoliation, lymphatic drainage, vitamin infusion and light therapy
Saphire abrasion is crystal free, suction free, non thermal technique that uses a sapphire handpiece that vibrates while it slowly passes across the skin’s surface to effectively and comfortably ablate the outer most layers of the skin. The level of exfoliation is customized to your needs and comfort level. This process results in improved skin texture, tone and appearance but and makes the skin more receptive to the next stage of treatment which involves wet, vitamin infused gel exfoliation and hydration.
Lymphatic drainage is accomplished by slow moving alternating pressure head which removes toxins and waste and improves circulation.

Red monochromatic light with microcurrent and high frequency aids in the stimulation of cells, stimulates collagen synthesis and gently tones and lifts the skin. Blue LED therapy, effective for mild acne, has additional healing and calming effects. The LED energy penetrates the skin better after the exfoliation is performed.
The result is a relaxing, healing treatment that patients consistently prefer over microdermabrasion. This treatment is provided by our professional aeshtheticians and is often used in combination with, or for maintenance after laser therapies which are performed by our physicians.

How long does a treatment take, how many treatments are advised
and can it be used on all skin types?
Treatments take approximately 45 minutes and depending on the desired results and the areas being treated, a series of 6 treatments, each 2 weeks apart are recommended. The treatment can be performed on patients with all skin types.
Repeated treatments over time has been shown to enhance collagen synthesis and positively affect the way the skin ages.
Does Sapphire abrasion hurt and is downtime required after treatment?
No. The treatment is quite comfortable and relaxing and no downtime is required afterwards.
How does this treatment differ from Microdermabrasion?
Patients report enhanced results and a better overall experience with the multi step Sapphire abrasion process compared to microdermabrasion. Because the treatment is performed without suction and crystals, patients report the process to be more comfortable and less irritating to the skin. Though microdermabrasion still has its place in the field of Aesthetics and is continues to be offered at Reflections for patients who request it, the Sapphire abrasion treatment is more advanced and comprehensive.

When will I see results?
Treatment results are progressive and you should notice correction with each treatment. Some results like smoother texture usually appear after the first treatment.
Can Sapphire abrasion be combined with other skin or laser treatments?
Yes, most definitely! It is quite common to combine Intense Pulsed Light treatments (Photofacial, IPL) with sapphire abrasion for their synergistic and more comprehensive results. Sapphire abrasion is also used to maintain and increase the longevity of results seen with Fraxel, Portrait and Erbium laser treatments. Studies have regularly demonstrated an increase in the level of collagen synthesis when such procedures are done in combination.
For more profound results, the laser therapies should be performed first and the sapphire abrasion used to maintain results.
