Cosmoderm, Cosmoplast and Zyderm
Cosmoderm, Cosmoplast and Zyderm are dermal filler substances made of collagen, the main building material of the skin. All of these skin filler substances have FDA approval for their cosmetic application.
The difference between Cosmoplast/Cosmoderm and Zyderm lies in the origin of the collagen: Cosmoderm and Cosmoplast are made of human collagen that has been biogenetically engineered in the laboratory; Zyderm is bovine collagen. Due to the potential for allergic reaction, Zyderm is not used at Reflections.
At Reflections, Cosmoderm is used to treat the problematic vertical lip lines and the furrow between the eyebrows. It can also be used to define the border of the lip, for the eye hollows and in the crow’s feet region. Cosmoderm and Cosmoplast can last up to 6 month, although the actual time varies depending on the patient’s characteristics and the anatomical region being treated

The main advantage of Cosmoderm is that it can be injected very superficially into the skin and thus it is useful in areas of thin skin and for very fine wrinkles such as in the upper lip or crow’s feet region. One other advantage is that it contains lidocaine making the injections more comfortable. Because
The collagen will be injected beneath your skin in the areas needing refinement; discomfort is minimal because the injections also contain lidocaine, which numbs the skin. Since Cosmoderm has a very low incidence of injection-related swelling and redness, you will able to return back to your normal daily activities immediately after treatment.
