Dé-Lite® Laser Treament for Skin Rejuvenation of the Dé Colleté

When temperatures go up and the neckline drops, the chest is left exposed and free for the sun to do its damage. The skin of the chest and breasts is very sensitive and more susceptible to the harmful rays of the sun. Premature aging develops more quickly here than in any other area of the body. What develops over time are unsightly discoloration and textural irregularities of the neck and chest and deep wrinkles and a Décolleté of a woman that is much older than you are.

What are the signs of sun damage and premature aging of the Chest?

Pigmentation issues consist of brown spots, sun spots and raised benign growths called seborrheic keratoses. Surface capillaries enlarge forming spider like spots or diffuse redness. The skin develops a rough texture and fine lines and wrinkles follow.


What is Dé-lite® laser therapy?

Dé-lite® is a laser treatment for the rejuvenation of the Décolleté which combines the Fraxel® Repair laser with the Vbeam® laser, iClearXL® (near infrared light) and GentleWaves® LED, each treatment performed comfortably and sequentially on the same day. Dé-lite® repairs sun damaged skin and reverses the signs of aging. Laser parameters and settings are adjusted appropriately for this often ignored, but very important area of the body. The synergy offered by these devices creates healthier, smoother, revitalized skin, and requires only one treatment!


What benefits can one expect?

The benefits include smoother, fresher, and younger appearing skin with an improvement in wrinkles and more even skin tone and texture.  The benefits continue to increase for several months after the treatment.


What is the laser skin rejuvenation treatment like?

The area to be treated is cleansed and a topical anesthetic is applied and left in place for about 45 minutes. You may also be given oral medications to make your experience more enjoyable.  During the treatment, the laser hand piece is gently guided across the skin’s surface in a precise and predetermined fashion, based on the specific goals of treatment.  Although there may be some slight discomfort during the treatment, most patients tolerate it quite well.  The average procedure takes 20-30 minutes but may vary depending on the areas treated. A topical ointment is applied to the skin before you leave. Most patients experience no discomfort after the treatment.


What will I feel and look like following the treatment?

It is common for patients to experience a sunburn type sensation following the treatment which can last ninety minutes. The skin will be swollen for a few days and redness is expected.  These are completely normal signs and reflect the healing process that is underway. Minor itching, oozing, crusting, dry skin, peeling or flaking are also normal signs you might experience as well.  These effects may vary in intensity and duration depending on your skin’s healing characteristics and the aggressiveness of your treatment. Moisturizers are helpful post treatment and the use of sunscreen (30-60 SPF) is very important. A post treatment topical regimen will be instituted on the day of treatment which will add to the wonderful results expected with the procedure.


Is downtime required after Dé-LITE® laser skin rejuvenation?

Most people remain home for just a few days post treatment but you are free to leave if the treated area is covered during the first few post operative days.


Why combine technologies during the same day?

Combining technologies during the same treatment session enhances the results that can be obtained with any one technology and this synergy is one of the reasons we can obtain such comprehensive results in just one treatment. The addition of the near infrared and LED light accelerates healing and minimizes downtime.


Can other areas be treated with the Fraxel Re:pair laser?

Are there other procedures that complement the results of Dé-LITE® laser skin rejuvenation?

Yes. Dermal fillers such as Restylane may be used to fill in deep creases of the chest and Botox Cosmetic may also be used in very small amounts in this region as well. Therapies for chest acne may also be performed either before or after this procedure.

Many patients use Sapphire 3 Photo Abrasion to help maintain the wonderful results achieved by the procedure. We begin this treatment approximately 6-8 weeks post op.

Topical skin care regimens customized for the chest will be prescribed for you to use beginning approximately two weeks after Dé-LITE® laser rejuvenation.
