The GentleYag Nd:Yag Laser

The GentleYAG System, a revolutionary long-pulse (1064 nm) high energy laser emits a gentle beam of light that harmlessly passes through the skin where it is absorbed by the target, hemoglobin in the blood vessels. The laser energy is transformed into heat, leaving the surrounding skin unaffected.

The skin is further protected during treatment by a Dynamic Cooling Device™ where cryogen is sprayed onto the skin cooling the upper layers and providing patients with increased comfort. The GentleYAG selectivity helps to protect the skin, while effectively treating the unwanted veins.

The GentleYag laser can be used safely on the face and legs. When used on the face it is especially good for isolated blood vessels, especially those stubborn ones on the side of the nose. It is not uncommon for the physicians of Reflections to use the GentleYag laser in combination with the Vbeam or Intense Pulsed Light on the face during the same treatment session for additive effects.

For leg veins, the GentleYag represents the most advanced vascular laser. Leg vein treatment often involves a combination of sclerotherapy and laser treatment and the laser may be used before or after injection sclerotherapy. Treatments for leg veins are provided at 6 week intervals and it often takes a series of treatments to get to a desirable end point. The GentleYag laser can be used in patients with all skin types. In contrast to sclerotherapy, no compression stockings are typically utilized after the laser. No downtime is expected after treatment and walking is encouraged.
