MicroPeel (Derma planning)®

What Is MicroPeel

Three step process which includes a mechanical and enzymatic exfoliation of the top layers of the skin, alpha hydroxy acid chemical peel and a cooling cryogenic therapy treatment. The goals of therapy are similar to that of microdermabrasion; improvements in skin texture, reduction in photo damage and acne control. The MicroPeel® is a three-step process that removes a micro-thin top layer of skin. The procedure is safe, effective and is accomplished in about 30 minutes

How often would I have to have this treatment?

Similar to a facial, we recommend a monthly treatment. Depending on your skin type, however, treatments two times per month may produce a more dramatic result.

How will I look after the first treatment?

Unlike a facial, most people will notice a change in the skin right away. You can apply your makeup immediately following the procedure.

Can this type of treatment be bad for my skin?

If you are pregnant, lactating, taking Accutane® or have a chronic history of cold sores, we do not recommend this treatment. You should also be aware that since any exfoliation increases photosensitivity to the sun you must use sun protection. You must also sign an informed consent before you begin the skin care program.

What are the 3 steps in the process?

One
The first step is a five minute, physical or enzymatic exfoliation of the skin. This frees the skin of dead cellular layers and protein. And by reducing the top layer of the skin, it also lessens the appearance of fine lines and brown spots. A change in skin texture can be felt right away by brushing your hand across your cheek.

Two
In the second step, a 15-30 percent Alpha Hydroxy Acid solution is applied. It will stay on the skin for at least 10 seconds, but no more than 2 minutes. A slight stinging sensation may be felt, but it is only momentary and quite normal. This part of the MicroPeel® helps to reduce acne related conditions by freeing impacted debris from the pores. This step is not recommended for sensitive skin.

*(Although glycolic acid peels have been popularized over the past few years, a recent BioMedic study has shown that due to the unique nature of the MicroPeel® the AHA step is not additive in this procedure. However, if you choose to employ the AHA step, Biomedic recommends that is be discontinued after 4-6 treatments.)

Three
The third and final step of the MicroPeel® is a skin freezing process called Cryogenic Therapy. Carbon dioxide is applied to the face in light, circular motions. Immediately the coolness causes an anti-inflammatory response. Pores look smaller. Sun damaged cells are cast off. Oil and blackheads are unblocked. The surface of the skin becomes smoother.

Can I use BioMedic without having a MicroPeel?

Absolutely! Keep in mind that it will take longer to see results and the effects may be less dramatic.

How much will the BioMedic Program cost?

The BioMedic Home Treatment Program is very affordable. The Home Treatment Kit is $130-$200 depending on your skin type. The cleanser and conditioner will last two to three months. The gels, creams, and sun blocks will last four to six months. The MicroPeel® will vary in price depending on the different areas of your face and body that you may treat. However, generally speaking, the price of a MicroPeel® is consistent with the price of a facial.

Is Micropeel the same procedure as MicroLaser Peel?

No. MicroLaser peel refers to a more comprehensive treatment performed by our physicians using an Erbium laser to refine the surface of the skin. Also referred to as erbium peel or weekend Erbium Peel, we sometimes perform this treatment first and then use sapphire photo abrasion, microdermabrasion or micropeels to help prolong results.
