Restylane Silk

Reclaim your youth with Restylane Silk treatments.

Reclaim your youth with Restylane Silk treatments.

There are different kinds of Restylane that are all used for their different qualities. Restylane Silk is the thinnest of the Restylane products and is used closer to the surface of the skin to fill fine lines.
A lot of patients have questions and concerns about the injection process and how it feels. All of the Restylane fillers contain lidocaine to reduce any discomfort one may experience. Many patients agree that filler injections are almost pain-free. After the procedure, one may experience light swelling or bruising but in general, there is very little downtime.

Silk filler flows almost like water under the skin, making it ideal for natural-looking placement very close to the skin’s surface, an area that many fillers would look lumpy or bumpy in.
We most often use Silk under the eyes, but it can also be useful for crow’s feet, forehead lines that are too deep for Botox to smooth out, and lips, especially for women with lip lines or who want to smooth out lines on the red part of the lip without adding volume.

Restylane Silk Treatment Areas

Restylane Silk has a smoother texture than the other Restylane fillers. As a result of this, it is best used to treat less severe skin concerns, but with very soft, natural results. In particular, this injectable can be used to:

We sometimes recommend combining these injections with Botox for overall facial rejuvenation. Depending on your concerns, your cosmetic physician can make the best recommendation for your desired results.

For your Restylane Silk treatment, an ultra-fine needle or cannula will be inserted into the skin or lips, depending on your aesthetic goals. The treatment, in its entirety, lasts 15-30 minutes. We make use of cannulas whenever possible, as this reduces the most serious risks of complication, as well as the risk of swelling and bruising. This gel solution will then be injected in varying small amounts throughout the treatment area for a natural-looking result. This injection process will be repeated until your desired look has been achieved. The treatment is quick and can be done in the middle of running errands or on a lunch hour, lasting about 25 minutes. Because there is no downtime required for this treatment, you will be able to return to your daily routine immediately after your appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions On Restylane Silk

  • What is Restylane Silk?

Restylane Silk is a hyaluronic acid dermal filler that can be used to soften wrinkles around the face, add volume to create better facial contour, treat under the eyes, and can create better lip symmetry. Wrinkles and volume loss can be due to several different factors such as sun exposure, smoking, or weakened facial muscles. This gel formula is used to correct these problems and revitalize your appearance.

This particular Restylane injectable uses smaller, smoother hyaluronic acid particles than the other products for a more delicate enhancement. Hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in our bodies, promotes collagen production and retains moisture in the skin. This substantial part of our skin’s structure is responsible for rejuvenating our skin and maintaining a youthful aesthetic. However, hyaluronic acid tends to degenerate over time, resulting in a loss of skin elasticity. Replenishing hyaluronic acid with Restylane Silk injections can soften unwanted lines and wrinkles around the face, add youthful volume, and create a more revitalized appearance.

  • How does Restylane Silk work?

Restylane Silk works by replenishing depleted hyaluronic acid levels and restoring volume throughout certain areas of the face to soften the look of fine lines and wrinkles. This injectable can also be placed into the lips to add volume and shape. This particular filler should be injected into the areas of concern to provide a more youthful appearance. The smooth texture of the gel, due to the small particles of hyaluronic acid, provides more natural results than some of the other dermal fillers in the market today. Additionally, horizontal lines on the forehead can also be diminished with Restylane Silk through this technique.

  • What does Restylane Silk feel like?

Because all Restylane products contain a component called lidocaine, which is a type of local anesthetic, the injection sites will be numbed by the Restylane Silk gel. To help keep patients comfortable from the start, we do offer a topical anesthetic to numb the skin before treatment. Patients who have undergone this treatment previously have reported that any discomfort that is felt is not too uncomfortable.

  • Do I need anesthesia?

Anesthesia is not necessary. As stated above, Restylane Silk contains a form of a local anesthetic called lidocaine, but you may want additional numbing of the area for added comfort. This is why we offer several different local anesthetics for our patients to choose from. We can apply a topical anesthetic or nerve blocks, which are numbing injections that are done directly into nerve bundles to ensure the patient feels absolutely nothing. Nerve blocks are often the preferred type of anesthetic used by many of our doctors for lip injections.

  • What does Restylane Silk cost?

The cost of dermal fillers starts at $650. We offer discounted prices when you purchase more than a single syringe during the same treatment. You can boost your savings by participating in our Rewards Plus program. Our rewards program can be discussed further during the consultation. Purchases over $1,000 can be financed. To receive your personalized quote, we ask that you contact our office and request a consultation with one of our expert injectors today!

  • What is recovery like for Restylane Silk?

After your treatment, you may experience redness of the skin and minimal swelling, but this should subside within a few hours. We take preliminary steps to avoid bruising from occurring by using cannulas. In the case that bruising does develop, we offer our patients free laser treatment to break down the bruise and speed up the healing process to minimize any downtime that has resulted from the bruising.

We recommend that patients minimize the risk of bruising by avoiding intense activities that raise their blood pressure for at least 12 hours after the injections. Exercising does not pose any health risk, therefore, it is not required to refrain from any form of activity. You should be careful not to rub or massage the treated area for at least one day after the treatment, but lighting touching the area, such as washing your face, is acceptable.

There is no downtime necessary after your Restylane Silk injections, so you are free to leave our office following the procedure and continue your daily routine without missing a beat. The results for Restylane Silk injections can be seen immediately, but the outcomes will become visible in a few days after the swelling and bruising have subsided.

  • How many Restylane treatments will I need?

One treatment is all it takes to receive the benefits of Restylane Silk. After the injections, you will notice the smooth, even surface of your skin. The lines and wrinkles surrounding the mouth and nose will be significantly reduced. You should be aware that the results of this treatment are not permanent, although long-lasting. You will need to return for follow-up treatments to maintain the achieved results.

  • How long does it last?

Restylane Silk can last anywhere from six to nine months depending on the area in which it is being used. 77% of Silk patients reported still seeing results at 6 months.1.

If the Restylane Silk injections are placed in an area where there is constant facial movement, such as the lips or forehead, the gel tends to break down faster than when injected into fine lines and wrinkles. During your initial consultation, one of our expert injectors will be able to provide more information about the longevity of your Restylane Silk injections. This particular formula is one of the longest-lasting lip fillers on the market today.

  • Who is an ideal candidate for Restylane Silk?

Men and women can both be candidates for Restylane Silk treatments. If you are looking to address mild wrinkles and lines on the face or looking to enhance the size of your lips, you may be a good candidate to receive this injectable treatment. To receive Restylane Silk, you should not have any underlying skin conditions or allergies to any of its ingredients, as it can negatively impact the effectiveness of this injectable. To undergo this treatment, we ask that you are in good health and maintain realistic expectations for the results because it will not provide the same dramatic results as a more invasive procedure. Injections are also temporary. You should not receive Restylane Silk treatments or any other injectable anti-aging treatment if you are pregnant or nursing.

  • Can Restylane Silk be used for under eyes?

Yes, we frequently use Silk under the eyes to fill in dark circles caused by tear trough deformity. It is particularly nice for those with thin skin, as it is a very water-like filler, and doesn’t have the risk of lumpy-bumpy appearance that other fillers might have.

  • How long does Restylane Silk take to work?

Silk creates immediate changes. You may have some swelling after injection, usually around 24-72 hours, that may obscure your results, but you will see an immediate impact.

  • What is the difference between Restylane and Restylane Silk?

Restylane is firmer and more solid than Silk. Silk lasts longer than Restylane and tends to be a little more expensive.

  • What is the cost of Restylane Silk?

At our New Jersey offices, Silk costs $700 per syringe with injection by a cosmetic physician.

  • What is Restylane Silk used for?

Silk can be injected anywhere, but the best injectors know Silk is really only the best filler for certain areas and certain patients. Those are under the eyes and lips for patients who need a superficial injection and/or who have very thin skin.
