Non-invasive procedure that helps lift, tighten and shape the body in a single treatment with no downtime - No surgery or injections are necessary
- Thermage’s latest body tip is designed to penetrate the skin more deeply for enhanced lifting and tightening of the body
- The body tip also eliminates unwanted superficial fat and improves the appearance of cellulite
The Thermage body treatment can help smooth and tighten the skin, creating a more appealing body contour and giving the skin a more youthful appearance in a single treatment.
Thermage uses radio-frequency technology to uniformly heat large volumes of collagen below the skin’s surface. The body tip is applied in a grid-like fashion across the treatment area, delivering a precisely controlled amount of radio-frequency energy. The inner structures of the skin begin to tighten immediately, and results continue to improve for up to six months.
Thermage is totally non-invasive. The procedure usually takes about an hour, after which the patient can immediately get back to their normal activities.
Potential treatment areas include the abdomen, thighs, buttocks, underarms, and the hands. Thermage treatments can also be used to accentuate the results of laser liposuction, providing additional skin tightening and enhanced body contouring.
How does Thermage work?
The Thermage treatment delivers a controlled amount of RF energy, heating the collagen in the deeper layers of the skin while protecting the outer layer of the skin with cooling. This deep uniform heating action causes deep structures in the skin to tighten immediately. Over time, new and remodeled collagen is produced to further tighten skin, resulting in healthier, smoother skin and a more youthful appearance.
Who is the ideal candidate for Thermage?
People who have lost a large volume of weight that has resulted in drooping skin are good candidates for Thermage, as are those who want to reduce the circumference of the thighs and reduce the appearance of cellulite.
How long does the procedure take and what does it feel like?
The treatment usually takes between 30 and 60 minutes. Patients can experience mild discomfort during the treatment due to the heating generated by the Thermage tip. The Thermage tip is cooled during the procedure, which helps reduce any discomfort, as does the application of a topical anesthesia. In general, the procedure is well tolerated and patients enjoy very good results.
What happens during the procedure?
A topical anesthetic may be applied depending on the specific treatment. We then take "before" photos and mark your skin to indicate which areas might need additional tightening. You will then lie on a comfortable table and a paper transfer will be used to place a "grid" on the areas of your body to be treated. This grid ensures complete and uniform treatment and assists in the customizing of the treatment. Some areas will require more "passes" of the thermatip™ than others to achieve the desired results.
During the treatment you will be asked to provide feedback on the level of heating you feel from the RF pulses. This feedback allows the best selection of RF energy levels to be used and makes certain you remain comfortable throughout the procedure. Once the treatment is completed, the grid is removed.
What will my skin feel like after the Thermage procedure?
Immediately following a Thermage procedure, your skin should feel tighter, smoother and more youthful. Over time, you will notice additional tightening.
How long before I can return to my normal activities after Thermage?
Most people return to their regular activities immediately following the Thermage procedure. Some people experience mild redness (like a sunburn), but it usually disappears quickly. No special care is needed after Thermage treatment unless otherwise instructed by your physician.
When will I see results and how long will the effects of the Thermage procedure last?
Recently published studies conducted by Thermage show that measurable tightening improvements appear gradually over 2 to 6 months after a single treatment session. The Thermage procedure causes immediate tightening of the collagen structure, with additional tightening over time. It is expected that results last for years.
Is the Thermage procedure safe?
The Thermage procedure has an excellent safety record. With over 190,000 estimated worldwide patient treatments to date the reported incidence of side effects is less than .4%, and these were minor. The most frequently reported incidents are classified as swelling, redness, bumps and blisters on or around the treated area. These side effects have usually disappeared in a few days or weeks.
