PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) affects about 1 in 10 women of childbearing age. The effects can be quite devastating, including hair growth that can make a woman feel embarrassed and self-conscious. We see many female patients in our practice who come in for laser hair removal due to this disease.
This female patient was plagued with ingrown hairs on her neck and chin, something no woman should ever have to deal with. Laser hair removal has helped get these ingrown hairs under control, but we’re not quite to the “finish line” with this yet. PCOS causes hormone fluctuations that need to be controlled in order to prevent future new growth in the same or different areas. This patient started laser hair removal before getting her hormones under control, which we normally wouldn’t recommend, but while she hasn’t had great success with removing all of the hair yet, she has been able to get rid of her ingrown hair problem, which is a big step forward for her quality of life and self-confidence.
Each patient in our practice is different, and part of our dedication to this industry is a dedication to doing what’s right by each individual patient we care for.
If you’re curious about how we can help you with hair removal or any other cosmetic concern, we warmly welcome you to our offices for a complimentary one-on-one consultation with one of our cosmetic physicians.
