Finding the right cosmetic physician takes more than a quick Googling – you have to know what to look for and what questions to ask. Dr. Chasin appeared on CBS New York to share some tips on finding the best cosmetic doctor.
Dr. Derek Desilva, host of 12 to Your Health on NJ12 News, interviewed Dr. Mitchell Chasin about what the latest science says about losing weight in a healthy way.
They discussed what to eat, how the things you think of “healthy foods” may actually be sabotaging your fat loss goals, what exercise routines actually work best for weight-loss (and it’s not all about long bouts of cardio, either!), and why you sometimes hit plateaus in weight loss, despite living a very healthy lifestyle.

Dr. Max Gomez stopped by Reflections Center in June 2018 to learn about new laser treatment options for Rosacea patients. Rosacea affects at least 16 million Americans, and around 415 million worldwide, but of those who know they have rosacea, only about 20%, or 3.2 million, are currently seeking treatment, even though 73%, or about 12 million of them have moderate to severe symptoms. That leaves roughly 9 million Americans with rosacea that greatly affects their quality of life not seeking treatment, and many doctors believe this is because these patients have lost hope for treatments that will effectively control their symptoms and prevent the disease from worsening.
Prevalence of Symptoms Among Diagnosed Rosacea Patients:
- 75% facial redness and/or bumps and pimples
- 44% have visible blood vessels
- 20% skin swelling and thickening
Why do Patients Need a Laser Treatment Option for Rosacea?
In the early stages, prescription topical and oral medications can help, but as the disease progresses, these are often not enough. The prescriptions work mostly to target bumps and spots, but diffuse redness and skin sensitivity, which patients often refer to as “stinging” or “burning” sensations, is not targetted by medications. This is where lasers offer a better alternative. The VBeam Laser, in particular, offers the best treatment of this redness and sensitivity. This symptom is caused by an over-proliferation of tiny capillaries near the skin’s surface. VBeam targets and removes those extra blood vessels, and helps to reduce the size of the blood vessels deep within the skin, so that results are much longer-lasting than with other lasers. New improvements in the VBeam technology also allow us to treat all skin types, where the older VBeam lasers were limited to fair-skinned individuals only.
HOW IT AFFECTS PATIENTS’ LIVES
- 90% of Rosacea sufferers said it had lowered their confidence and self-esteem
- 41% reported it had caused them to avoid or cancel social engagements
- Among those with severe rosacea:
- 88% felt it had negatively affected their professional interactions
- 51% had missed work due to flares
