Jawline laxity can be hereditary (meaning it’s in your genes and its something you struggle with from a young age) or age-related (part of the natural aging process) – or both!
This patient was in her twenties, meaning this lack of sharp definition to her jawline was mostly just a genetic trait, but this same effect can be seen in aging when the part of the jawbone closest to the ear starts to be resorbed (bone loss and resorption occurs throughout the face as we age – it’s natural, but causes us to look older as the support in our face fades away).
Dermal Filler placed along the jawline to mimic a sharper jaw contour has the added benefit of tightening up loose skin (by adding some volume underneath).
