Volux Filler by Juvederm™

Volux most closely mimics bone (as opposed to fat or skin, which other dermal fillers better replicate the feel of). This makes it ideal for replacing lost or wanted volume in the chin, jawline, and other bony prominences within the face. If you’ve been wanting to sculpt a more defined jawline, or if you have notice jowls along with an ill-defined or not straight jawline, Volux is a great filler to consider!

Volux is Juvederm’s newest Hyaluronic Acid (HA) filler, introduced to US markets in 2023, after receiving FDA Approval in August 2022. It’s part of the VyCross range, their newer range (Hylacross is the older range). Vycross products have a gel consistency and hold up better under the stresses of movement, making them more durable, especially in areas of high movement, like the chin, jawline, etc. Volux is also in a class of fillers that can be dissolved if necessary.

The Best Volux™ Injections:

Which Areas Are Treated with Volux for the Best Results

Volux was introduced as a jawline and chin filler because it is so much firmer than existing HA (hyaluronic acid) fillers on the market, and most closely mimics bone (vs. fat or skin tissue, as some other HA fillers do) and this improves the contouring ability of the filler as well. While Volux is initially approved and promoted for the jawline and chin, we expect it will also be used in the nose, temples, deep on cheekbones, and in other bony areas within the face, in an off label protocol.

Jawline, Jowls, & Chin Treatment with Volux Filler

Volux is FDA-Approved for the jawline and chin, and specifically for improving jowls by injecting in these areas, which makes it unique in the market, because almost no other HA fillers have been studied in these areas (despite being safely used off-label in these areas). What does this additional study mean, compared to the others? It means we have very clear answers about duration, techniques, risks/safety, and suitability, which allows us to be very certain about how this filler will perform for each and every patient that we offer it to.

Volux in the jawline or chin offers a very natural result that lasts up to 2 years and improves the appearance of nearby jowls or sagging skin. It has the longest duration that any HA filler offers. Most patients experience results that last even longer as fillers have been determined to stimulate production of natural collagen and elastin.

Volux offers a different result, a more natural-feeling result, for these areas than previous filler formulations. In the past, Voluma and Radiesse, and maybe Defyne, were really the best options for this area. Radiesse does a good job of mimicing bone, but it is not dissolvable or reversible like Hyaluronic Acid is. Voluma and Defyne were used in these areas, but they both mimic firm tissue, not bone. And we all lose bone in these areas, so it will always look the most natural if we are able to replace it with something that mimics that same density and texture, which is what Volux does.

  • Potential Downtime: Mild swelling is common and bruising, though uncommon, can occur.
  • Numbing: Volux contains lidocaine, which, in addition to advanced injection techniques makes Volux a comfortable treatment
  • Risks: All Injections of filler carry some risks. The most common risks are bruising and swelling, the rarest risk are the most serious, with occlusion being the main concern.
  • Appropriate Treatment Areas: Chin, Jawline, Pre-Jowl (area in front of jowl), Sulcus, Deep Cheeks, Temples
  • Naturalness of Results: Very natural, given correct technique. Physicians should be the only ones to inject Volux
  • Cost: $1100 per syringe

The Best Volux Injectors in New Jersey are at Reflections Center

At Reflections Center, only physicians inject filler, and each of our physicians have years of experience with injections of filler and Botox. In addition, we were some of the first in the country to receive training on Volux and to be able to order and use it in our practice.

Today, our doctors are thrilled to be able to add this filler to our arsenal. In the hands of our doctors, we expect it to offer the same natural-looking results we’ve become known for, with an added boost of longevity and more natural feel for areas of bony prominence.

Volux is just one of many dermal fillers we offer at our New Jersey offices. In fact, we are often the first to debut new fillers – and we stock and use every FDA-Approved filler in our medical cosmetic practice. This means you don’t have to worry about whether Volux is right for you, or for your goals or budget – we will help you make those decisions as part of the free consultation with your physician injector. Frequently Asked Questions About Volux

  • What are the risks of Volux filler injections?

The injection of Volux carries some risks that all injections carry, like the potential for redness and swelling at the injection site, bruising, infection, etc., which are risks due to a needle poking the skin. Volux also carries some risks that all other fillers carry, which include nodules, occlusion, autoimmune disorder exacerbation, itching, migration, allergic reaction, bleeding, etc. These more serious risks are very rare with fillers, but you always want to see a doctor who can assess your individual risk profile, and who can also provide the best recourse treatments, should these occur. Not all injectors have the resources (materials and training, experience) to effectively treat these adverse events with the standard of care they should be handled with. This is something our office takes quite seriously and is well-prepared for.

  • What is Volux filler?

Volux is a hyaluronic acid (HA) filler that mimics bone and is used to enhance facial contours. It’s injected into the jawline, chin, nose, cheeks, and temples. Volux is the stiffest of all HA fillers, which are the most commonly used fillers in the United States.

  • Is Volux the same as Voluma?

No, Voluma is less stiff than Volux. The image below gives some insight into how the juvederm brands of filler compare, which includes both Voluma and Volux.

  • How long does Volux filler last?

Volux has been clinically proven to last for 12-24+ months in the jawline, but the duration of the filler’s results depends on the individual, injection technique, and treatment area. Our goal at Reflections is to create natural-looking results, and Volux is an ideal option for bony areas of the face with some of the longest-lasting results of any HA filler on the market.

  • What does Juvederm Volux do?

Juvederm Volux is an HA filler designed to enhance facial contours by adding volume to bony areas like the jawline, cheeks, and chin. It can also reduce the appearance of jowls and lower facial folds.

  • Who is a candidate for Volux filler?

Volux is best for patients who want long-lasting facial contouring with a durable, thick HA filler. If you want better definition in your jawline or want to reduce jowls without surgery, Volux can be a great treatment option.

  • How is Volux injected?

Volux is injected deeply into the skin where it can most effectively mimic the bony structures of the face. This adds definition to areas like the jaw, chin, or cheeks.

  • What are the risks of Volux filler injections?

Like all fillers, Volux injections carry potential risks like redness, swelling, bruising, and infection. Other less common risks include nodules, occlusion, autoimmune disorder exacerbation, itching, migration, allergic reaction, and bleeding. It is best to consult with a doctor to asses your individual risk profile and offer the best recourse treatments to manage complications, should they occur.

  • Can Juvederm Volux be used on cheeks?

Volux can be used on the cheeks when injected deeply against the bone, but it may not be as common as other fillers like Voluma. Radiesse is a very dense, stiff filler, and it has been used in the cheeks for decades with natural results.

  • Is Volux a good filler?

Yes, Volux is the newest injectable available from Juvéderm and has shown very promising results for patients who need a thick, long-lasting filler. Our team has thoroughly tested this new injectable and are excited to offer it as one of our many HA filler options.

  • Is Volux a Good Filler?

No, Volux is thicker and stiffer than Voluma. It is an excellent option for facial contouring and a good alternative to Voluma.

  • What is the difference between Volux and Voluma?

Volux and Voluma are both on the thicker end of Juvederm fillers. However, Volux is the strongest formulation available and offers greater stiffness and support. If you have used Voluma before, Volux may be an exciting new option for facial contouring.

  • How long does Volux filler last?

In the clinical studies, Volux lasted 12 – 24+ months in the jawline. There is some variability in this based on the individual, the injection technique – and there will also be some variability based on where it’s used (we imagine many will use it in other areas).
The important thing to remember is that you can formulate a filler treatment around what leads to the longest duration, or you can focus on the best results and tailor your injection choices around that. In our practice, natural results trump everything, which is why we’re excited for Volux, because it’s an even more natural feeling/looking filler for areas of bony prominence and it offers some of the longest duration of results of any HA filler on the market. In this case, you’re getting the best of both!

  • What are the benefits of Volux?

The biggest benefit of Volux is that it’s one of the longest-lasting HA fillers available. It’s also one of the first HA fillers formulated for jawline and facial contouring where previously other HA fillers were used off-label for the same results. We are incredibly excited to offer this new filler as part of our selection.

  • Can Juvederm Volux be dissolved?

Yes. Volux is composed of hyaluronic acid, so it can be dissolved using an enzyme called hyaluronidase. This is true of all HA fillers from Juvederm.

  • Is Volux available in the US?

Volux became available in the United States in early 2023, and we’re excited to be one of the first practices in the greater New Jersey area to offer it.

  • Is Volux good for jowls?

Yes, Volux can improve jowls by lifting the skin that causes them. By adding volume to the cheeks, we can lift the sagging skin along the jawline, thereby reducing the appearance of jowls.

  • Can juvederm Volux be used on cheeks?

Volux can be used to add volume to the cheeks for patients who need greater support than that offered by Voluma. For cheek enhancement, you have a variety of options, and our cosmetic physicians can help you select the best one for your ideal look.

  • Can Juvederm be used for the jawline?

Yes. Volux is one of the first dedicated jawline fillers available. It mimics the look and feel of bone, making it an excellent option for facial contouring.

  • What is the difference between Restylane Lyft and Juvederm Volux?

Lyft is one of the thicker formulations available from Restylane and is typically used for facial contouring. Volux is similar but can last longer – up to two years versus Lyft’s 6-12 months.

  • How much does Volux cost?

Volux is one of Juvéderm’s more costly fillers and we price it at about $1,100 per syringe. However, for up to two years of definition, it can be an extremely cost-effective investment versus other fillers which require touch-ups more frequently.

  • Is Juvederm Volux FDA-Approved

Yes. Volux was FDA-approved in late 2022 and is now available. While it’s approved for jawline contouring, our experienced cosmetic physicians have found various advanced uses for it.

  • What are your next steps to getting Volux?

Your first step is scheduling a consultation with our cosmetic physicians who can discuss your goals and preferences and offer a professional opinion. You should always choose an injector who performs HA filler treatments regularly and can offer the experience you need to achieve your ideal look.
