Thread Lifts

Thread lifts create an instant face or neck lift while stimulating long-term collagen growth.

Thread lifts create an instant face or neck lift while stimulating long-term collagen growth.

More and more patients are seeking non-surgical ways to lift and rejuvenate the face and neck. Whether they’re short on time before a big event, swore to themselves they’d never have surgery, or simply aren’t ready yet and want to delay a procedure, the search for a treatment that lifts the face without surgery is important to them. If this sounds like you, then the new thread lifts1 from Nova and Silhouette may be the perfect solution.

Thread Lifts Quick Facts

  • Non-surgical face and neck lift
  • Minimal downtime
  • Enhance your jawline, lips, eyes, and more
  • Immediate results that continue to develop over time

Most Common Treatments for Thread Lifts

Medical-grade threads are injected into the skin to provide an immediate lift and slowly dissolve over 6 to 9 months, helping the body to grow new collagen in their stead, for long-lasting and natural results. They allow us to create natural-looking improvements for:

Non-Surgical Face Lift

Jowls and looseness along the jawline are two of the most common early signs of aging that patients complain about in their 40s and 50s. These threads help lift the face by first lifting back up the fallen upper cheeks and then lifting and tightening along the jawline. This one-two punch creates a natural result, similar to what a mini facelift can provide, without any of the recovery and downtime of surgery. Because of the short downtime and immediate results2, this is our favorite non-surgical facelift option.

Non-Surgical Neck Lift

Neck sag is a very common complaint we hear. Many patients don’t want to have a neck lift surgery, either because they aren’t ready to commit to surgery or because they simply don’t have the downtime and want to look good for an upcoming event. Thread lifts for the neck offer a nice alternative because there’s almost no downtime and the results are immediate.

The other nonsurgical neck lift options we have, like ThermiTight, PrecisionTX, Ulthera, and Thermage all work by using heat technology to injure the collagen, spurring the body to repair and rebuild that collagen over the next few months. These treatments create natural, beautiful results, but they don’t work for patients who are pressed for time. MINT threads, PDO Threads, and Silhouette Soft can each offer neck tightening treatments that give immediate results. As the fibers dissolve, they too spur the body to create new collagen. You get the best of both worlds with these threads – the immediate results of surgery without downtime, and the collagen-building results of this technology.

Non-Surgical Brow Lift

Traditionally, brow lifts have only been accomplished by 1 of 2 methods. A brow lift surgery or Botox injections can create a “brow-lift-like” result in certain patients (this requires the patient to have a certain type of facial anatomy to work well and appear natural, so it’s not an option for everyone). Lifting threads offer a nice alternative because there’s almost no downtime, but you get the true lifting of the brow. 3

Lip Lines & Poorly Defined Lip Borders

Many women lose the definition of their cupid’s bow and lip borders as they age. This makes thin lips appear even smaller, as they lack structure and volume. Many times, this is accompanied by deep lip lines or “smoker’s lines” that extend throughout the white portion of the lips, up to the nose, and down to the chin. The Nova PDO brand of threads offers a wonderful ability to create support mesh for lip lines as well as a defined border for the lips. MINT threads can also be used to address fine lines around the lips.

Non-Surgical Eye Lift

For some patients, thread lifts can be utilized to correct sagging eyelids. This is especially true for those who seek more subtle changes or whose drooping eyelids have not progressed too far. MINT threads are often recommended for a non-surgical eyelid lift procedure.

Thread Lift Brands Available at Reflections Center

Reflections is proud to provide patients in New Jersey with both of the top brands for dissolving thread lifts. Both Nova and Silhouette manufacture a range of thread types and each has its best uses. By offering both brands and the full range of threads from each, we’re able to place the right threads in the right treatment areas, customized to fit each patient’s needs and budget.

Nova PDO Threads

Nova offers several different types of PDO Threads4 which can be used to create support mesh for weak and thin skin (think crow’s feet and lips), define the lip border, create lift for the brows, define the jawline, and lift and support drooping neck skin.

Nova Threads are commonly used by many of our doctors as a mesh to stop dynamic wrinkles and support the skin, but they can also be used to lift and define the face. They are more affordable than some of the other threads on the market, and are a great first thread treatment to try.

Mint PDO Threads

MINT, or Minimally Invasive Surgical Threads, are composed of a complex sugar known as PDO and for this reason are comparable to NOVA threads. They have been in use for surgical purposes for many years, and stimulate new collagen products as they lift the tissues. MINT threads can be used for defining the jawline, correcting drooping eyelids, or for a nonsurgical brow lift.

These are Dr. Wix-Harris’ favorite threads because they offer great lifting and defining power without as many of the concerns that previous threads had.

Why Choose Reflections Center
for Thread Lift Treatment

One of the only drawbacks we’ve seen with these new thread lifts is the lack of technical skill mastery by some providers. If you think about why facelifts fail, it’s usually because some physicians don’t understand how to achieve a natural lift and accurately restore tissues to their previous locations. Our team at Reflections Center is comprised of board-certified plastic and cosmetic surgeons as well as dermatologists and aestheticians. We will ensure beautiful results that blend medicine with an artistic touch.

We also take the time to examine your unique facial anatomy, and discuss your aesthetic goals and medical history to ensure that this procedure is right for you. We want to ensure that each patient’s experience with us is professional and safe, so if another treatment may be a better fit for you, we will let you know our recommendations. We only want the best for each of our patients.

To schedule your free thread lift consultation, contact Reflections Center today! Our friendly team will be happy to assist you.

Frequently Asked Questions on Thread Lifts

  • How are these thread lifts different from thread lifts before?

In the past, plastic surgeons tried to use sutures to lift the face and neck. They would stitch below the skin to create a lifted look and then tie off the stitches. Oftentimes, they used barbed stitches for this so that they could lift the skin and hold it in place. Unfortunately, these sutures weren’t made to hold the weight of that tissue over the long haul. These threads would break and create ripples and weird contours as some of the lifted tissue fell down, while the barbs held other parts up. 5 Even worse, they were nearly impossible to remove. It was a disaster. The FDA quickly banned these lifts from the market.

The new thread lifts are made from dissolving sutures. They are easily removed in case of complication or regret. Still, you want to see a skilled physician for your treatment to ensure they are placed in such a way to create natural-looking results.
