Laser facial rejuvenation devices like Fraxel use high tech to make skin look great

Back To Blog Overview

The term LASER stands for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. It was invented around 1959, and a bunch of scientists (many who probably had bad skin) claimed credit for it.

Given how modern day laser facial treatment scan rejuvenate skin to a smoother, tighter, more youthful appearance, the term LASER might better stand for Light Amplification for Skin Everyone Raves About. Oops – I guess that would spell LASERA!

At Reflections, we have dozens of laser facial devices, offering varying wavelengths, power levels, delivery methods and operating parameters. We have so many because each device is really good at one thing, addressing specific issues like sagging skin, fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, or redness, and no one laser can do it all. We also have to take into consideration things like the patient’s skin type, other issues that need to be addressed in their skin, and their ability for downtime. Having so many options means we can match up each and every patient with the treatment that’s just right for them.

Unfortunately, there are medical practices that use a single wide-spectrum laser for everything – fine lines, brown spots, skin tightening, you name. While this is cost effective for the physician (they only have to buy one laser),most times it’s not the safest and most effective treatment for the patient.

Among our most popular laser facial devices are the Fraxel family of lasers. A Fraxel laser delvers its energy in thousands of microscopic treatment zones that penetrate about 20 to 25 percent of the skin to stimulate collagen growth. The tissue surrounding these treatment zones is left unaffected, and acts as a healing engine to speed recovery. The result is a very effective procedure that doesn’’t require a lot of downtime. WebMD calls Fraxel lasers the anti-aging breakthrough of the decade, and rightly so!

After a Fraxel treatment, The skin is left tighter, and with a more even tone and texture, either in a single session with Fraxel Re:Pair (downtime of about a week), or in a series of gentler treatments with the Fraxel Re:Store Dual (downtime a day or two). Our most gentle Fraxel-like technology is Clear + Brilliant, which leaves the skin feeling totally renewed after each treatment in a series, and requires zero downtime.

It’s probably good that those bad-skinned laser scientist didn’t stumble across Fraxel technology back in the 1950’s. Their skin would have been so fresh and dewy after testing out the technology on themselves that their social calendars would’ve been too full to bother doing any research. No laser hair removal, not laser tattoo removal, no laser pointers to mess with our cats – life just wouldn’t be the same!
