The Frankenstein Facelift

Back To Blog Overview

Reflections took over Harpers Bazaar’s Facebook Live video stream to talk about a procedure being called “The Frankenstein Facelift.”

Dr. Mitchell Chasin, an award-winning injector of dermal fillers, took to air to talk about a filler procedure that can restore lost volume in the temples. Juvederm Voluma and Restylane Lyft are two hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers that create long-lasting change for the eyes and brows when used to restore volume along the temple.

“We’re replacing that lost volume, and thus, people look completely natural.” – Dr. Mitchell Chasin

How long do results from fillers for temple hollows last?

We typically see results lasting many years.

What causes the temples to become hollow?

Weight-loss, genetic predisposition, and the natural aging process of certain individuals causes this concern.

What do you advice patients to do to prepare for this procedure?

Stop taking Advil, Aspirin, Vitamin E, and fish oil supplements before the procedure, to reduce any small risk of bruising (if you have been prescribed a blood thinner regimen, speak to your prescribing physician before discontinuing use).

What’s the cost for temple filler?

Each patient is different, and that’s why we offer a complimentary consultation with exact price quote. However, on average, a patient requires 1-3 syringes of dermal fillers, which range from $650-1000 each, with package pricing discounts for any purchase of 2 or more syringes. The patient in this demonstration received 2 vials of Juvederm Voluma.

How do I find a physician provider for this procedure?

The experience and skill of your injector matter much more than the actual product when it comes to dermal fillers. Look for physicians who specialize in cosmetic injections. You can always do a quick check by asking to see their awards. The top manufacturers of dermal fillers (Allergan, Merz, and Galderma) all award the most experienced physicians each year. Usually physicians prominently display these awards in their office. You can see ours here.

This procedure is highly-specialized, so you should also ask about your provider’s experience with this particular procedure. Before and after photos are a good way to gauge their individual experience. An experienced physician should be able to show you many photos of different patients who have received the procedure you’re interested in, performed by that provider specifically.
