Radiesse

Radiesse is a safe, effective, next-generation dermal filler used for the correction of facial lines, wrinkles, and folds, as well as facial contouring. It provides more longevity than any of the other leading dermal fillers on the market today. Radiesse is FDA-approved for cosmetic use and is well known for immediate satisfaction and long-term results. It’s probably the most cost effective filler and the ideal choice for facial shaping and contouring.

How Radiesse works

Radiesse is made of unique calcium based microspheres that are suspended in a natural gel that is injected into the skin during a minimally invasive procedure. Radiesse works below the skin’s surface. Tiny calcium based microspheres form a “scaffold” to support and stimulate the growth of your own collagen to create a natural, full, youthful look. Radiesse does more than just temporarily fill in facial lines and wrinkles — it rebuilds your skin’s foundation, without the risks associated with permanent fillers.

For the first three months after injection, Radiesse acts as a typical filler substance by “filling” lines and wrinkles and plumping up the skin. Then due to its unique collagen generating properties, Radiesse actually stimulates new tissue development for extended correction for up to an additional year. Radiesse is respected for its durability, longevity, and versatility. It is commonly used to treat:

  • Prominent nasolabial folds (from corner of nose to mouth), smile lines and oral commissures
  • Marionette lines at corners of the mouth
  • Deep wrinkle correction
  • Chin augmentation
  • Filling cheek depressions
  • Softening acne scars
  • Correcting facial depressions caused by fat loss
  • Softening the appearance of jowls
  • Hand Rejuvenation

Q & A

Is Radiesse right for me?

Our physicians will discuss the specific advantages of Radiesse versus our other available fillers and work with you to decide the best treatment option. Decisions are based on depth of creases, location to be used, longevity, and cost. Radiesse cannot be used in the lips or in the frown area.

What is the treatment like?

After a complete evaluation and discussion, pre-treatment photos are taken and the skin is numbed with a topical anesthetic. Radiesse is then injected into the skin using ultra-fine needles. The procedure takes approximately no more than 30 minutes. We apply ice at the office and you leave ready to resume your day.

You should avoid intense sun exposure, extremes of cold, and exercise for 24 hours. If any lumpiness is detected after two to three days, it is recommended that you return to the office for evaluation.

We do see a bit more swelling right after Radiesse injections, compared to other dermal fillers, though this generally resolves on its own within two days. The injection process also tends to be a bit uncomfortable, though the application of a topical anesthetic to the skin beforehand helps greatly.

What should I do prior to treatment?

One week before injections, avoid taking St. John’s Wort, high doses of vitamin E, aspirin, Advil, Nuprin, and any other agents that can increase bruising.

How much does it cost?

The cost for Radiesse is $700 to $800.

What’s the downtime?

There is no downtime.

How long does it take to see results, and how long do the effects last?

The results from Radiesse injections are immediate. Radiesse continues to produce results as it stimulates the body to produce new collagen. The aesthetic benefits from Radiesse last for a total of 12 months to 15 months, longer than other leading cosmetic dermal fillers, saving you time and money. Since the longevity is determined by a number of factors, the physicians will be able to give you more specific expectations at the time of consultation.
