Vbeam Perfecta

The Vbeam laser is a safe, gentle, and versatile device used to treat a variety of skin conditions all over the body.

The Vbeam laser is a safe, gentle, and versatile device used to treat a variety of skin conditions all over the body.

While prescription medications help reduce the bumps, skin thickening, and swelling of rosacea, lasers are the only option to effectively reduce the diffuse redness (and associated “stinging” and “burning” sensitivities) and flushing that are the most common symptoms experienced.

The Vbeam was introduced in the 1980s and is one of the safest and most widely used lasers in aesthetic medicine today. It delivers intense bursts of light to the skin on the face, neck, or chest. The light is absorbed by undesirable blood vessels on the surface of the skin, resulting in reduced redness and a more even complexion. It utilizes a cool cryogen spray (DCD) that accompanies the laser pulse, protecting the skin and making the treatment very comfortable.

Most Common Uses for Vbeam Perfecta

The Vbeam laser, recognized for its long record of safety and efficacy, is used to treat:

Broken Capillaries

Telangiectasias, or facial and nasal spider veins, are typically a result of sun exposure or an after-effect of acne or rosacea. These tiny broken veins in the face cause a persistent flushed looked and have the visual effect of aging the face. They are worsened by heat, alcohol, tobacco, and the sun. Skin that is prone to these broken vessels should be treated gently and cared for with mild products. Sunscreens and hats will afford a level of protection that will help maintain your cleared skin during and after treatment.

Rosacea Treatment

Rosacea is a chronic and potentially life-disruptive disorder of the facial skin. It typically begins any time after age 30, as redness on the cheeks, nose, chin, or forehead. It may come and go. Over time, the skin becomes ruddier and more persistent, and visible blood vessels may appear. Left untreated, bumps and pimples often develop, and in severe cases, the nose may grow swollen and bumpy from excess tissue.

Vbeam has been proven to substantially reduce and often eliminate the redness and flushing of rosacea. Another procedure that is very useful in rosacea treatment is called Photofacial, which uses intense pulsed light (IPL) technology. These IPL treatments and Vbeam laser treatments are commonly used together in a rosacea treatment program for their additive effects5.

Red Acne Scars & Red Active Acne Breakouts

The red color left behind on the skin from acne scars is a result of tiny broken capillaries at the site of the healed acne lesion. This redness is more common in newer acne scars and is hard to conceal, making the evidence of acne more pronounced, even after it has healed. Lasers, which target these broken capillaries, cause the small vessels to coagulate and be reabsorbed by the body. This effectively removes the redness. The Vbeam laser is often used in combination with other lasers which smooth out the acne scars, such as Fraxel or Smoothbeam.

Leg Spider Veins

Age, pregnancy, and heredity play a large part in the development of varicose and spider veins. Varicose veins are better treated by sclerotherapy, while small red and purple spider veins (hemorrhagic telangiectasia) are easily and comfortably treated by vascular lasers such as the Vbeam 4. Spider veins can also be present for certain types of rosacea, making it a great all-in-one treatment option if redness is also a concern. Vbeam provides a very comfortable treatment process with minimal downtime – it can also be used on a larger variety of skin tones than other laser platforms. This makes it one of the best options available for getting rid of leg spider veins versus other non-laser options.

Scars

Scars can sometimes become extremely reddish, purple, and visible if you’re genetically predisposed to visible scarring or experience sun exposure during the healing process. Raised or puffy scars that are caused by surgery, trauma, acne, or burns are well-treated by Vbeam Perfecta3, especially when combined with other therapies. The CO2 laser (to address texture) can also be paired with Vbeam, along with steroid injections to calm down inflammation.

Vbeam works best on scars that are still in their healing phase, or under one year, and can provide an additional boost to your body’s natural process of reducing the appearance of scarring. It can take 3-6 months after treatment for a scar’s final appearance to settle in after a package of Vbeam treatments, but it can achieve a drastic reduction in vascular pigmentation.

Stretch Marks

Stretch marks occur when the skin stretches too quickly. Frequently appearing after pregnancy or periods of rapid weight gain and loss (such as during puberty and growth spurts) stretch marks are commonly found on the stomach, thighs, buttocks, breasts, shoulders, and lower back. Stretch marks can leave red, purple, or white discoloration depending on their age. Stretch marks may appear reddish or purplish when new but can eventually become whitish or silvery later on. Stretch marks are best treated when they’re new, or typically in the reddish or purplish stages. However, some stretch marks may remain reddish or purplish, and Vbeam is the best option to correct the color changes associated with stretch marks10.

Frequently Asked Questions About vBeam Perfecta Laser Treatments

  • How much will VBeam Laser Treatment cost?

We price our Vbeam treatments by the size of the area treated and complexity of the treatment. Typically, the price of an individual session for the face, chest, or legs is around $450-550. We do offer package discounted pricing when multiple sessions are purchased at the same time. Your complimentary consultation will include a detailed price quote for your specific treatment plans.

  • What is the treatment like, does it hurt, and is downtime required?

The Vbeam laser treatment is quite comfortable, and though no topical anesthetic is required, it may be used. The skin is protected during the treatment with a cold cryogen spray, which precedes each pulse of the laser. Most patients will experience a small amount of redness and swelling in the skin for about 24 hours after the treatment, but this should not interfere with any planned activities at home or work. No downtime is required.

  • How many treatments are required and at what interval

We generally provide a series of treatments, spaced three to four weeks apart. Depending on the nature of the condition being treated, it may require one or two treatments, or possibly more. Certain conditions, such as Rosacea, will require maintenance in the future.

  • Can VBeam treatment be combined with other therapies?

One popular technique is providing a series of treatments that alternate between IPL therapy (Photofacial) and the Vbeam. Each technology has its own attributes, and when used in combination, may further enhance the results. Vbeam laser may be used in combination with the Fraxel, Portrait, Smoothbeam, BOTOX\u00ae COSMETIC and dermal fillers.

  • What precautions should be taken before and after treamtent?

Avoid exposure to the sun and tanning of the areas that are to be treated throughout the course of treatment. Immediately following the treatment, the area may be slightly swollen, sensitive and warm, and cool compresses are helpful.

  • Are VBeam results permanent?

Yes, VBeam results are permanent – but we cannot prevent your body from producing new redness (broken capillaries from sun damage, rosacea, or red scarring), unless we use some other kind of medicine to control the underlying causes. Our doctors treat the whole patient, and will recommend treatments to help you maintain your results and prevent future redness using the latest medicine.

  • Does VBeam help brown spots?

No, unless theres red in the spot, VBeam wont do a good job of targeting it. Now many caucasian people do have a red tone in their sunspots (along with brown), and you will see that redness diminish, but not the brown. Fraxel Dual Restore is our favorite laser for brown spots – and there are many that do treat browns, but VBeam focuses on red (because of its wavelengths of laser light).
