How to Get Natural Results with Fillers

Back To Blog Overview

In this video, Dr. Chasin discusses facial contouring with dermal fillers. When done correctly, it can make someone look more youthful, rejuvenated, more attractive, and most importantly, completely natural, where it looks like we haven’t done anything.

Dermal fillers are a popular cosmetic treatment for patients who want non-surgical facial rejuvenation. Unfortunately, many people experience unaesthetically pleasing results and an unexpected change in their appearance after fillers. At Reflections Center, we have the expertise to deliver great results with the best products. In our video series, Dr. Chasin discusses how you can get natural-looking results from an experienced injector at Reflections Center.

Steps for a Successful Treatment

1. Choosing the Right Candidates

One of the most important things to consider before a cosmetic treatment is whether you are receiving the right one for you. Dr. Chasin explains that some people will come in hoping for dermal fillers when they actually need skin tightening or a procedure to improve the texture or tone of their skin.

2. Choosing the Right Products

There are dozens of fillers to choose from at Reflections Center. Some of these fillers are better for filling in lines and others are best for adding volume or lifting parts of the face. Different fillers have different formulas and consistencies that make them designed for different treatments.

3. Experienced Injector

Dr. Chasin describes injecting as an art form, and it takes years to perfect this craft. When done properly, fillers can create a natural look with proportionate, beautiful results but we’ve all seen terrible outcomes of disproportionate or overdone fillers.

Factors to Take into Consideration

Dr. Chasin highlights two important factors that every doctor should consider before starting injections: facial proportions and facial features.

Facial Proportions

Experienced injectors will take the whole face into consideration when examining a patient’s cosmetic concern. For example, Dr. Chasin explains that a woman may think her lips are too small when “the truth of the matter is the whole area of the lower face is small. And if we listen to what the patient sees and just make the lips bigger, it’s not [going to] help, and actually it may hurt.” If something is disproportionate, our eyes will be drawn to that area, so it is important to look at the entire face rather than the treatment area alone when planning for fillers.

Facial Features

Everyone has different facial features and taking those into account will ensure natural-looking results. Some of these features may be the size of the lips, creases in the nasolabial folds, or dimples. Patients may come in hoping to smooth a surface concern like deep nasolabial folds, but Dr. Chasin knows that it is important to look at the interior of the face. He compares this to starting with the foundation when a person is building a house.

The way each person’s facial features are arranged will impact how much filler is used, how deeply it is injected, and how the filler is layered under the skin. All these steps are done to create natural-looking, symmetrical portions that enhance rather than alter each patient’s facial features.
