What is Skin Classic?
Skin Classic is a radiofrequency (RF) treatment that delivers the energy at high frequencies to remove clogs from pores and close veins quickly and easily. The tiny applicator tip of Skin Classic makes it much more precise than previous technologies, which nearly eliminates the risks of scarring and discoloration, which are very common with older treatment options like liquid nitrogen spray.
What does Skin Classic Treat Best?
Skin Classic is the best treatment for Sebaceous Hyperplasia because it works to treat the real underlying cause of the bumps, without damaging the surrounding tissues. Skin Classic delivers high-frequency radio waves into the pore to break up and melt the trapped oil. The Skin Classic applicator tip is very fine, and we’re able to swoop in, heat things up very quickly, and pull out the clog.
Broken capillaries and spider veins often appear on the cheeks and nose from rosacea, acne scars, or other trauma to the face. These unwanted small red “spider veins” need be treated with a laser or energy device that can vaporize and cauterize the blood vessel to remove it entirely without any risk to the blood supply of capillaries in that part of the face. This can be accomplished with lasers, but we’ve found Skin Classic to be more effective and comfortable for treating small, individual vessels.
Millia are small, hard clogged pores. They most often appear underneath the eyes, where skin is thin. Essentially, they are non-inflamed, closed pores with a whitehead. It’s very difficult to remove them without causing scarring unless you can heat and melt the clogged oil. That’s exactly how Skin Classic works. Radiofrequency heat is delivered through a tiny applicator tip to melt and release the clogged oil and dirt, for a gentle and very effective treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions about Skin Classic
What does the treatment feel like? will I be numbed?
The skin classic treatment is able to be felt, but not painful. That’s because the precise tip delivering the energy only treats exactly the cells that need treatment. In the case of Sebaceous Hyperplasia, we’re warming up the excess oil trapped inside the pore, which means you shouldn’t feel very much at all.
Is there any downtime? When will I be photo-ready?
For treatment of broken capillaries, you may have 1-3 days of slight crusting or pinkness in the area. It’s usually very mild and resolves quickly. Do not pick at any crusting, as this may lead to scarring. The crusting will flake off on its own in a few days.
For 5-7 days after treatment for millia or sebaceous hyperplasia, you may have small white spots, where the sebum is being pushed out by the skin. You might see slight crusting and pinkness, this is normal and should resolve in a few days to a week.
What does Skin Classic cost?
We typically charge between $200-400 for skin classic treatments, depending on the number and complexities of the spots being treated.
Will I need more than 1 treatment?
For broken capillaries, it is unlikely that you would need more than 1 Skin Classic treatment, although we do commonly pair skin classic with Vbeam Perfecta, a laser that targets redness and inflammation, in patients with rosacea and widespread vascular redness.
Patients should see immediate results from the treatment for millia and sebaceous hyerplasia, with clear, smooth skin after about a week. Sometimes, patients need a second treatment with Skin Classic, when they have a severe case of sebaceous hyperplasia. New sebaceous hyperplasia or millia bumps can appear, over time, and that would require the same treatment to remove the excess oil again.

Why should I choose Skin Classic treatment over Liquid Nitrogen at my Dermatologist’s office?
Skin Classic represents a big improvement over liquid nitrogen (LN2) treatments that have been traditionally used to treat these issues, which has a very high scar rate, even in the hands of trained and experienced physicians, including Dermatologists. You’ll often see Liquid Nitrogen leave white spots or dark spots behind, where it has caused permanent scarring. Skin Classic offers a very precise tip, versus liquid nitrogen canisters which do not, and this allows us to treat only the area that needs treating, which is often a very small pore opening or tiny blood vessel. Treating the surrounding skin and tissues, the part that doesn’t really need to be treated is what causes the scarring with liquid nitrogen. So we’re able to avoid that.
Also, you’ll find that insurance doesn’t cover liquid nitrogen spray treatments for these concerns (sebaceous hyperplasia, millia, and broken capillaries), so you’ll end up paying out of pocket no matter which doctor you see. What you might be surprised to learn is that it’s often more cost-effective to be treated with Skin Classic at our offices than to have liquid nitrogen spray at your Dermatologists, and because those doctors aren’t as focused on cosmetic results or performing these treatments as often as our physicians, you likely won’t get the same attention to detail in cosmetic outcome that we can offer.
