Changing the Shape of the Chin with Non-Surgical Injections

Back To Blog Overview

Many women don’t realize how much more youthful they will appear with a heart-shaped face and projected chin. Men can also benefit from a projected chin and sculpted jawline if they desire a more masculine appearance. At Reflections Center, we have over 70 different lasers and technologies but, according to cosmetic physician Dr. Verity Johnson, fillers will often get patients the best results for non-surgical chin augmentation.

Who Can Benefit from Chin Injections?

Most patients who are bothered by a naturally weak chin or receding chin caused by aging can benefit from non-surgical chin augmentation. Juvéderm and Restylane are hyaluronic acid fillers while Radiesse is made with a natural collagen stimulating substance. Both types of fillers use active ingredients that are naturally found in the body, so many patients are good candidates. If you wish to augment the contours of your face and strengthen your features, we encourage you to schedule a consultation today to discuss the procedure in greater detail with our team and determine whether you are a good candidate.

Chin Injection Options

We offer three different types of injectables, but Dr. Johnson has a strong preference for fillers. We’ll explain the reasons below:

Fillers for Chin Augmentation

Cohesive dermal fillers can add volume and structure to the chin to change its projection and overall shape. Fillers can also smooth the skin on the chin by filling in deep wrinkles and facial folds like marionette lines. Radiesse and Juvéderm Voluma are popular chin filler choices because they are injected into the deep layers of the skin and create a long-lasting firm result. Restylane Defyne and Refyne are often used to smooth the contours of the chin and create additional shaping that moves easily with your natural facial movements.

Botox Chin Injections

For dynamic wrinkles caused by repetitive facial expressions, Botox can be added to your treatment to soften those areas. Botox is a neuromodulator specifically designed to prevent muscle contractions and weaken the muscles, thereby preventing fine lines and wrinkles. It can also be used above and around the lips for more dramatic rejuvenation of the chin area and lower face.

Threads

Threads are the least commonly injectable used for chin augmentation and they are not recommended because they don’t have the same shaping ability to project the shin. Non-surgical thread lifts are better used to lift sagging skin along the jawline or in the midface, which could be a great addition to compliment the results of your chin filler procedure.
